Erwin has got his Master degree at Twente University in
The Netherlands. His end thesis was about B2B Marketing and the importance
of product quality .
He started his career as a consultant in logistic organization and
efficiency at AT&T & Philips Telecommunication System B.V. where later he
became the Commercial Logistic Manager for several years.
With Mechanical Engineering background and great interest in food
technology, Erwin developed to become a food technologist after Post
Doctorate courses in food engineering and microbiology.
Erwin joined Royal Ahold as a Senior Product Technologist for Albert Heijn
in food and cosmetics and afterward as the Corporate Quality Manager for
both Royal Ahold and Associated Marketing Services (AMS) at the same time.
In this function he became one of the founders of the Global Food Safety
Initiative (GFSI) and participated in other international standardization
and food safety initiatives.
With over 1.100 quality audits of suppliers, many of which were in fisheries
and aquaculture, Erwin was invited to write the first draft of the EurepGap
(GlobalGap nowadays) aquaculture standard.
After long experience with one of the EU biggest retailers, Erwin had
realized that there were many challenges with regard to business
sustainability in supply chains which he envisioned to be better addressed
if he would be an independent consultant. So, in 2004 he founded his own
company called QA-Sense BV.
